Food Bank Use Triples

The Citizens Advice Bureau has painted a worrying picture as people all over the country struggle to meet living costs. They have reported a 78% rise in enquiries regarding the availability of emergency food parcels, whilst the Trussell Trust has published findings that show the usage of food banks to have tripled in the past year. There are even reports of situations so dire in for individuals and families in British homes, that people are returning portions from their food parcels because they cannot afford to heat up certain foodstuffs. Part of the work of Citizens Advice Bureaux is to provide research gathered on the ground to help influence social policy, and the Chief Executive of the national charity has warned that, at this rate, things will only get worse.
